HIV-positive people advising HIV-positive people
P.U.M.A. – Positive Unterstützung, miteinander aktiv (“positive support, active together“)
Our volunteer staff members in the area of counselling, guidance and support know what they are talking about: They themselves have been living with HIV for many years and based on their own experience and qualified counsellor training they know how to assist persons recently diagnosed with HIV infection. They know how to support them in their “positive” life and in finding ways to integrate the infection into their everyday life. Our centre provides initial contact with one of our volunteer counsellors. Of course, confidentiality and secrecy are guaranteed in the process.
